The signature event on the main stage is The 3rd Vancouver International Latte Art Competition & Etching Competition, awarding the highest cash prize to the winning Barista than any other latte art competition worldwide. This is a free event which is open to the public and we invite everyone to come. Why not spend the day with us in honour of the Barista, one of the most important people in our lives – especially first thing in the morning  ; )  !!!

Free Pour:

This latte art competition will feature head to head competition between Baristas as “a match” out of 16 competitors. The competitor receiving the highest score from the judges will advance and the loser will be eliminated. The Barista will be judged based on 5 categories: 1) Aesthetic Beauty 2) Definition 3) Colour Infusion 4) Degree of Difficulty and Creativity 5) Speed. Competitors will be given 4 minutes to make one latte for the judges to be scored against each other.

Etching:

This beautiful and sublime art form will feature 10 Baristas presenting individually. Competitors will have 5 minutes of competition time to present 1 latte for the judges. The Barista will be judged based on 5 categories: 1) Aesthetic Beauty 2) Definition 3) Colour Infusion 4) Degree of Difficulty and Creativity.

Contestants will be competing on the Appia S model Nuova Simonelli espresso coffee machine.
